Purposeful Adventure with Trash Free Trails.

Back in the September @rupertbarry invited me along with Tudar aka @forthehellofit.cc for a bikepacking ride out to the remotest point in Wales to see if we could actually find any litter. This would be a purposeful adventure with @trashfreetrails.

This would mark the remotest spot on Wales. Approximately 2.8 miles from any building.

I assumed this would be mid to North Wales but as it happened it's on the Black Mountain in the west of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Once we turned off the main road just past Craig y Nos country park, climbed up high above the valley and out on to the mountain the landscape opened up. One of the things when your planning these adventures is how it will actually feel once your on it. As we peddled further out and our gravel dirt track gave way to small sheep tracks it definitely felt remote with nothing to see for miles around us. We would cycle into the night and pitch camp at precisely the remotest point. It was a cold clear night where we sat up drinking mead and watched the stars shimmer over head in these dark skies.

We awoke the next morning to frost on our tents, the suns light slowly warmed us up. We got to work and scouted for any litter but thankfully we found none. Except a small piece of aluminium a few km's back down the mountain which could have been agricultural. With litter and plastic being found everywhere it was nice to have not come across any. But why would there be this remote? Where you find people, you'll find litter. It was great to help out with Trash Free Trails again. If your not familiar with them then please help support them and get involved. You also can read more about our adventure in this month's @mbrmagazine
